What the Stats Say...Hereford

Hereford were another side who, like Accrington, somehow managed to avoid us through the years until last season. In fact, Oxford and Hereford had only been in the same division as each other once before, that being in 1977/78 – though the two clubs faced off in the League Cup in the 1980s and 1990s. Matt Peck casts some light on Oxford's league record at Edgar Street.

OTHER STATS

Prior to their promotion back into the Football League last season, Oxford have only faced Hereford once before (in the league), all the way back in the old Division Three, 1977/78. That meeting at Hereford ended with a 2-1 win to the home side.

The game last season took place early in the season, when Hereford were in a horrible run of form. After 6 games, they had amassed only 4 points, with 1 win and 1 draw. It would take them another 6 games to register another win.

Oxford’s win at Edgar Street propelled them to 7th, their highest position in the league last season. They would achieve the same position for another week after beating Shrewsbury in January 2011.
