OTHER STATS

Prior to last season, the last time the two clubs met at Rotherham was in Division Two, in 2000. The result was a 3-1 win for Rotherham. This is also the highest aggregate score between the two sides when playing at Rotherham. The game was looking to be ending in a 0-0 draw, until all 4 goals were scored in the last 14 minutes of play. Warne opened for Rotherham on 76, before Watson doubled the lead on 82. Lilley pegged the gap for Oxford by 84, before Warne secured the win with a goal in the 90th.

To find the last time Oxford won away to Rotherham, you would have to look back to 17 December 1983, in the old Division Three. Oxford won 1-2, the result cementing Oxford’s position at the top of the table, with a gap of 4 points.

Oxford would go on to win the Div Three title by 8 points, Rotherham finished in 18th, 8 points clear of relegation.

The two would not meet again in the league until 1994, a gap of 10 years, which is to date the longest gap these sides have not faced each other since they first met in September 1976.

This fixture has produced two 0-0’s, these were in consecutive seasons. 1979-1980 and 1980-1981.

Rotherham and Oxford have never met in a cup competition.
