What the Stats Say...Shrewsbury

Shrewsbury are the next visitors to the Kassam and the ground staff have been working hard to accommodate them by burning their initials into the pitch. Last season we weren't quite so accommodating, beating the Shrews 3-1 as James Constable ran riot against his former club. Matt Peck's stats are back, so how does our home record against Shrewsbury stack up?

OTHER STATS

Prior to last season's visit by the Shrews, the previous time they met at The Kassam was in January 2006. Oxford went down to goals from Langmead (65’), Herd (83’) and Tolley (90’) and was one of nine home defeats for the U’s that season.

Shrewsbury enjoyed a great year last season. Finishing fourth was the joint highest finish in any league (with 2003-4), since they won Division Three in 1993-4.

When Shrewsbury visited Oxford in January 2011, it was part of a tricky month for the Shrews. They only won one game in that month, achieved 3 draws and lost 4.

The largest scoreline at Oxford against the two sides was a 6-0 to Oxford in 1996. The season would end with Oxford finishing runner up to Swindon Town and gaining promotion to Division One. Shrewsbury would finish 18th.
